Our vision and goals.

4WildTrees is an NGO that helps protect our environment with the humble goal of making a small difference in a specific region  and the dream that others will follow in our foot steps and establish similar groups in neighbouring regions and indeed other parts of the world. 

4WildTrees aims to find trees in the wild, specifically in Israel's Negev highland area, and help ensure their continued existence. Many of these trees need no help at all while others are in dire need of all the help that they can get. With your help and support our volunteers will do their best to keep the trees alive and healthy. 
Why trees need help ? Owing to climate change, this is a fact the causes of which may be discussed, the Negev highland region in Israels' central Negev desert is in the throes of an extended drought lasting several years and unless something is done some of the trees listed on this site will not survive. 

How will we help save trees ? The Chinese philosopher Lao Tzu once said 'give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime'. We could just water these trees but that would cost alot of money and only last as long as we persevered - our goal is to try and fix the immediate micro-environment around the trees so ensuring an improved chance of survival. 
Why do this ? Trees all over the world are important and while the survival of this relatively small number of trees is perhaps nothing like as important as saving the Amazon rain forest trees in this region have a very special role first as micro-ecosystems and then too in much bigger ways.
